ntegrated Water Quality Management of Urban Rivers
Rivers are key natural and ecological sites from a water management perspective. Many urban areas are passed through by rivers. Those rivers function as multipurpose, such as source of drinking water, transportation way, recreation location, etc. Some of uban rivers suffer because of the untreated wastewater discharge and solid waste. To overcome this problem and improve the water quality, an integrated management need to be formulated. Several aspects that need to be considered including strong will of leadership, law enforcement, technology support, predicting modeling, community awareness, and optimizing of water utilization. Urban area has specific character due to the heavier load derived from the busier activities. Therefore, an information system will be a useful tool to integrate all aspects in formulating the river water quality management.
